What should have been a simple $30-or-less tire repair ended up costing over $300 I brought my Acura here for a very small nail in the tire. I have a photo showing exactly how minor the puncture was. They plugged it, and by the VERY NEXT DAY the tire was already leaking air again. I brought it back to give them the opportunity to fix it, but they told me they didn’t have time. I couldn’t keep driving on a tire losing air, so I took it to the Acura dealership. I was then told that because of how the previous repair had been done, the tire could no longer be properly repaired/repatched and now had to be replaced. So a minor issue that should have cost me about $30 or less turned into an almost $300 tire replacement. What made the situation worse was when I went back to explain what happened. The woman there knows me because I’ve brought both of my vehicles to this shop before. Instead of showing any concern, she had a smirk on her face and told me a plug is a “temporary fix” and “sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.” The plug didn’t fail months later—it failed THE NEXT DAY. Mistakes can happen, but dismissing a repeat customer instead of taking any accountability is what really disappointed me. I trusted this shop with both of my vehicles. A small nail should not have turned into a $300 expense.. that just for the tire not to mention 4wheel alignment. I have spent over 2k in services with my Mercedes and Acura here, but not going back.
We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. We do appreciate the business you’ve given our shop and understand your frustration with having to replace the tire. We would like to clarify one part of the review. When you returned to the shop, we did not tell you that we “didn’t have time” to look at the tire. It was shortly after we had opened and our air compressors were off, and we had only one technician there at the time. We asked you to wait so that we could properly inspect the tire, but you chose to leave. Regarding the tire repair, a plug is a commonly used method of repairing a puncture, but no tire repair can guarantee that a tire will never lose air again. If a repair does not hold, we are always willing to inspect it and determine what caused the leak. Unfortunately, because the tire was taken to another facility before we had an opportunity to inspect the repair, we cannot determine what caused the subsequent leak or whether the tire could have been repaired by us. We’re also sorry that our conversation left you feeling that we were dismissive of your concerns. That was not our intention. We value our customers and take concerns about our work seriously. We wish you the best and appreciate the time you’ve taken to share your experience.
